Turbo Repair Equipment

There has been an ongoing debate for many years between the original turbocharger manufacturers and the turbocharger repair industry, over whether a turbo can be repaired. The first OEM turbo manufacturers pulled out of the repair market around 2004 – at the time their argument was that most repairers did not have the correct specialist equipment for the new higher speed turbos.

As the turbo repair market has matured over recent years, knowledge and skills have improved along with the availability of the correct equipment needed to produce quality repairs. The trends in the turbocharger aftermarket follow the movements of the market for new turbos, albeit some four years after.  The turbo aftermarket is now fully involved in the growth the OE turbo industry saw in the early 2000’s, and as a result there is a significant increase in the amount of repairing going on and general activity in the turbo repair industry.
