Melett Polska launch turbocharger core assembly production facility

The new site is at the existing distribution centre in Bydgoszcz, Poland, strengthening Melett's European capabilities and creating a centralised hub to serve customers across the European Union.

A decade of growth: Melett Polska turns 10

Melett Poland marks its tenth anniversary and celebrates its rapid expansion, which has kept the company agile to the needs of the European market. When the UK left the European Union in 2020, the Poland facility became Melett’s EU hub for parts distribution, supporting its Europe-wide customer base and its established network of Authorised Service Centres (ASCs) located in Poland, Spain, and Italy.

Melett North America moves forward with new facility

Melett North America relocated to new premises, strategically designed to optimise warehouse operations and improve customer support. The move enabled more efficient order processing and reflects the company's commitment to meeting market demands with enhanced operational capabilities.

Melett North America: A ten-year milestone

Melett North America celebrated its 10th anniversary. The business experienced significant growth since it was first established in Memphis, Tennessee in 2012. Initially beginning its venture from a 7500 sq ft building, the team has since doubled its capacity in both the number of employees and the size of its facility – as a direct result of year-on-year progression and the need to meet ongoing demand.

Melett launches refreshed website with enhanced features

Melett introduced a redesigned website aimed at improving user experience through simpler navigation and faster access to essential content. The updated site features a clean, modern interface and provides quick links to new product updates, technical guides and videos, Turbo Tips, and the latest industry news—keeping customers informed and connected. A standout feature is access to one of the world’s most comprehensive turbocharger databases, containing over 138,000 detailed turbo build sheets, including component-level specifications and dimensions. This upgrade reflects Melett’s ongoing commitment to supporting the professional turbo repair industry with precision, reliability, and innovation.

Melett becomes part of the Wabtec Corporation

Melett Limited has been acquired by the Wabtec Corporation. The US-based company is a global provider of value-added, technology-based products and services for freight rail, passenger transit and other industrial segments. Melett is part of the Wabtec Global Turbocharger Group, offering turbocharger solutions for industrial, marine, off-highway, commercial vehicles, locomotive, military, passenger cars and performance applications. The group also includes; Precision Turbo & Engine, Turbonetics and Napier.

2016 assistiu a uma nova expansão

Em 2016, assistiu-se a uma nova expansão quando foi introduzida uma capacidade de armazenamento adicional para aumentar a disponibilidade de stock. O armazém de 12.500 m2 é adjacente à atual sede no Reino Unido. Abriga as operações de entrada de mercadorias, qualidade, inspeção e construção de kits. Também acomoda uma gama de produtos em constante expansão, abrangendo os modelos de turbo mais populares, bem como muitos modelos menos populares, originalmente fabricados pela Garrett, Holset (Cummins Turbo Technologies), Borg Warner (Schwitzer e 3K), MHI (Mitsubishi), Komatsu, Toyota, IHI, Hitachi e Continental .

Melett launches a range of precision engineered turbochargers

To further support the professional turbo repair industry, Melett’s launched a range of precision engineered turbochargers, providing a quality, yet cost effective alternative to a new OE turbocharger. Melett is renowned for producing OE quality parts to help the turbo aftermarket produce the highest quality repairs. In-house control

Melett opens Polska office

To help better serve the Polish market, a sales and distribution centre – Melett Polska, was opened in 2013. The opening of Melett Polska signified a further extension to Melett’s expansive growth plans. The facility, located in Bydgoszcz, Poland, acts as the local distribution centre for customers throughout Poland and allows Melett to work much closer with the Polish market. Such has been the success in the Polish market that in November 2016 the team moved to a new larger Melett owned building with over 890sqm of warehouse space .

Melett opens first satellite office

Melett moved to new and much expanded premises

Em março de 2011, foi necessária uma maior expansão e a Melett investiu 1,4 milhões de euros em instalações novas e muito ampliadas em Barnsley, Yorkshire, Reino Unido (ainda hoje a sede da Melett). A new larger premises in Huddersfield

Due to substantial growth, in July 2006, Melett moved from its modest premises in Dewsbury to new larger premises in Clayton West, Huddersfield. The new premises incorporated; new offices, mezzanine floor space and extra racking. At the time allowing lots of room for future development and growth. Along with most of its customers, the company developed rapidly in line with market growth. Also, in order to keep ahead of the continuing growth, and to increase product development, stock availability and quality, the company invested heavily in the latest machinery, experienced team members and quality facilities .

Ian tornou-se Diretor

Ian interessou-se por motores desde muito cedo devido ao negócio de garagem e de empresa de transportes da sua família. Depois de terminar uma licenciatura em Design de Engenharia Mecânica, Ian completou outras qualificações empresariais pós-licenciatura enquanto trabalhava na indústria do alumínio estrutural. Ian tornou-se diretor e acionista da empresa, mas após uma aquisição em 2001, vendeu as suas acções e saiu. Queria criar a sua própria empresa e rapidamente descobriu que a Melett estava à procura de um novo proprietário - e a Melett, tal como é conhecida atualmente, foi relançada na Automechanika 2002 .

The company maintained good growth

A empresa manteve um bom crescimento nos seus primeiros seis anos até à perda súbita e prematura de Melvyn em 2001. Consequentemente, os doze meses seguintes foram de grande incerteza, até que a empresa foi comprada em 2002 por Ian Warhurst, Engenheiro Mecânico - atualmente o antigo proprietário e Diretor-Geral da Melett .

Melett was founded

A história da Melett começou em 1995, quando o falecido Melvyn Hackett fundou a empresa. Melvyn, antigo funcionário da Garrett, trabalhou durante décadas no sector dos turbos, tendo inicialmente criado e gerido o braço europeu da "Rotomaster". Eram os maiores fabricantes independentes de peças de reparação para turbo e foram comprados pela Garrett em 1985. Melvyn tornou-se o diretor da Garrett Aftermarket durante os 9 anos seguintes até ser despedido em 1995. Embora não desejasse reformar-se, Melvyn decidiu iniciar o seu próprio negócio de pós-venda, dando o nome à empresa, Melett .
